Day Two

Phelps, NY to Sunbury, OH
400 Miles

What a day.

First, I want to point out in New York all the rest stops are called “Text Stops”. I was not quick enough to grab a photo, but it is an interesting way to combat texting while driving. Each state’s highway seems to highlight what it is trying to combat. New York- Texting while driving. Ohio-Operating under the influence of drugs. It is interesting to see how these themes change.

Today was my first experience with a windstorm. I never realized that was something to be cautious of. Dad said the wind was blowing at about 50-60 knots. It was all he could do to keep the RV from going into the breakdown lane. Heidi hated the storm. It was extremely noisy and she got very nervous. I consoled her while Dad drove. Our slides were in, but the wind blew a rolled up canopy cloth 5 inches forward. Luckily, we were able to fix it with the help of a ladder from our neighbors at the campground.

We left the storm early into Ohio. The rest of the day was sunny and 70 degrees. We are having fun and can’t wait for Louisville (Lou-ville) tomorrow!
