Louisville, KY to Goodlettsville, TN
154 Miles
Today was a short drive and we gained an hour along the
way. It gave us a full day to explore Nashville. What a blast!
We decided to take a Discover Nashville tour to get an
overview of the city to find places to spend more time at tomorrow. What an
adventure. Our tour guide “Tex” (from Texas) was 78, he made it loud and clear
he was from the “Old School”. This meant some of what he said wasn’t
politically correct, but he didn’t care at 78 he could say and do what he
wanted. He was a true character once you got through his thick southern drawl.
Dad and I laughed the entire time.
Onto the tour:
This is the Ryman Auditorium. It was the former home of the
Grand Old Opry. Many famous performers rage about the acoustics of this curved
space. I would love to hear a show here someday to experience it.
Next, we went to the Parthenon. It is an actual replica of
the Parthenon in Greece. From the outside it is simply majestic. Surrounding
the Parthenon is a beautiful park. Nashville truly does a phenomenal job with
its parks. They are immaculate, beautiful, and either symbolic or educational.
One walk through a park near the capital building is a walk through Tennessee’s
history fro m the beginning of time.
Our next stop was the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum.
I admit, I know little about country music, but I did enjoy seeing all the
memorabilia. This car was Webb Pierce’s.
By looking at the car details, he must have been quite the
character. There are revolvers for door handles, holsters behind both seats, a
saddle between the driver and passenger’s seats, and 1,000 silver dollar coins.
We had a blast in Nashville and can’t wait to go back
tomorrow.
Off to do some laundry for now,
A
