Day Ten

Goodlettsville, TN to Meridian, MS
351 Miles

We left Tennessee this morning and arrived in Mississippi by mid-afternoon. The majority of our day was driving through Alabama. It is the direct opposite of pristine Tennessee.

At the border, the Tennessee workers were weed whacking between the guardrails. In Alabama, the grass is over your knees. We established for Alabama to be “Alabama the beautiful” the state needs to budget for a mower and some pavement.

So far the terrain and vegetation is consistent with the northeast with less pine trees. Some differences are the soil, which is now a burnt orange and some of the flowering trees. When we crossed into Mississippi there were beautiful magnolia trees about 50-60 feet tall. We don’t have those at home.

Today's post is short, because it was a traveling day. Tomorrow we will arrive in New Orleans in the morning and start touring the city in the afternoon. I am glad to hear so many are reading and enjoying the blog. It’s exciting to share our adventures with you!
