Day Fifty Four

Sioux Falls, SD to Des Moines, IA
278 Miles

We drove a short distance through South Dakota before entering Iowa. Second to Alabama, Iowa has the worse pavement. The western part of the state is in need of some serious road repair.

I have officially seen enough cornfields for a lifetime. Thus far, there is nothing but cornfields in Iowa. Miles and miles of cornfields for as far as you can see.

We crossed the Missouri River at a point south of all of the flooding in South Dakota. The river was roaring with thick mud and high banks. Much different from the blue water we saw two days ago.

Mom is on her way back to Boston. Dad and I are off to Illinois tomorrow.
