Day Forty Seven

Gardiner, MT

We picked up Mom this morning, had lunch in downtown Gardiner, and got an overview of Yellowstone to plan the next few days. Gardiner is truly an old cowboy town.

Tonight we went to a rodeo and it was a blast.

The rodeo starts with synchronized riding. This horse was beautiful.

Next up, the bucking broncos:

This boy was maybe seven years old. He is the fifth generation of his family to partake in rodeos and he really could ride.

Calf roping:

This was adorable. Numerous one dollar bills were taped to two calves. All the children enter the arena and tried to grab the dollars.

Finally the bull riding:

These dogs are the stars of the rodeo. The speed at which they herd a bull back into the holding pen is incredible.

Overall, the rodeo was a blast. It was the final rodeo for this town in 2014. Tomorrow, we are off to explore Yellowstone.
